About Suzan

Personal
History
My husband Rick and I
have been married for over 27 years. During this time we
have raised three wonderful children, Robbie, Jamie, and
Justin. Rick continues to work as a state employee with the
Florida Department of Transportation.
Our eldest son, Robbie, served in the United
States Air force, and has continued his service in a civilian capacity
maintaining mid-air refueling aircraft. Robbie remains a member of the New
Hampshire National Guard. Our daughter, Jamie, was a
championship athlete throughout high school and college.
She currently assists profoundly disabled adults, fulfilling a
lifelong career dream. Our youngest son, Justin,
is attending college, and he no doubt has a very bright future
ahead of him. Rick and I could not be more proud of the selfless adults
our children have become.
Professional History:
I
have a solid record of community involvement and elected leadership. For
23 years I have devoted my life to bettering my community, and I look
forward to doing the same for the folks of State Senate District
3.
- I was honored to serve eight years as
an elected Representative in the New Hampshire Legislature.
- For six years I served on the Nashau Board
of Education.
- Prior to that I served 4 years in local
government, during which time I also served on the Board of Directors
for the Mount Hope School for the Disabled.
- For five years I served as
the President of the Public Kindergarten Coalition, helping
to spearhead Public Kindergarten for all 5 year
olds.
Professional
Record:
- As a State Legislator I spearheaded
groundbreaking legislation to mandate statewide public Kindergarten,
implement Safe School Zones to keep our children safe, and I was proud
to be able to streamline license plate registration for Disabled
Veterans.
- I proposed and passed legislation to
reduce property taxes. By doing this, I was able to save my constituents
over $1 million dollars in property taxes, and statewide we reduced
property taxes by more than $6.5 million dollars.
- I also introduced legislation which urged
the U.S. Congress to fund 100% of Special Education costs, enabled
public/private partnerships to encourage science and technology studies
in public school, and helped to raise over $1 million dollars to help
lower taxes while improving our public education system.
If you have any questions, comments, or
suggestions, please feel free to contact my campaign. As your next State
Senator, I pledge to be here fighting for your interests,
not special interests, and I am always interested in speaking to folks
about the specific issues they face. To contact the campaign, please click
here. Thank you
for the opportunity to serve our community. When elected, I promise to
serve with honor and integrity and work toward preserving the quality of
life we have all come to enjoy. On June 26th I humbly and
graciously ask for your vote. Thank you and God Bless.
