Insurance Reform

After two years of tinkering with our state's insurance system, the legislature has still failed to deliver real Homeowners Insurance Relief. In 2006 my Republican opponent, Charlie Dean, supported a bill which gave big insurance companies the green light to raise our insurance rates by more than 70%.

I support the prompt establishment of a national catastrophic property insurance program. This is not only possible, it is necessary.  If we are going to achieve this, we must have strong voices in the State Legislature who will not cave to the lobbyists and special interests of Big Insurance. We must have leaders who are willing to reach out and work in conjunction with legislators from other states.

When elected to the Florida Legislature, I will be that strong voice. I will be that leader, and I will work to see lower premiums become reality. As your next State Senator, I pledge to make lower homeowners' insurance rates a top priority, and I will not rest until Floridians get the relief they deserve.
